Training...

Whitethorne offers a complete year-round lesson and training program, for beginners through advanced horsemanship. The Hunter Jumper trainers led by Georgy Maskrey-Segesman, have between them some 45 years of experience as trainers in Hunters, Jumpers and Equitation. Both Georgy and Julia Spreen Balcom have competed at the Grand Prix and World Cup qualifying levels, while Lauren Mourmouris has run children’s, medal and adult amateur training programs at some of the most prestigious hunter/jumper barns in California for over 15 years.

Whitethorne also offers an independent Dressage Training Program, with instruction from Training Level to Grand Prix.

We also specialize in starting young horses and provide lesson programs with school horses and horse leasing arrangements for clients who have no horse of their own

The Whitethorne Complete Training Program is designed to meet as far as possible the hopes and expectations of riders and horse owners for both themselves and their horses.

Whitethorne is a Show Barn, but we recognize that not every person with a horse in training wishes to compete at horse shows. We also recognize that it is important that trainers not only give lessons and advice, but that they also ride their clients’ horses regularly and school them. This even includes having a trainer getting on to a client’s horse to fix a problem during a lesson if necessary, and if Georgy is away at a horse show, there is always another trainer available to give lessons and school your horse.

The Whitethorne training program in addition to developing customized feed and exercise programs for the horses and riders, provides at least five training services per week These can include, private, semi-private or group lessons at times arranged to suit the rider’s convenience (Tuesday through Sunday), schooling rides by the trainers, exercise rides, turn outs, sessions in the European Exerciser and hand walking where this is required or appropriate.

All horses in the training program are also provided with the full grooming program in which their horses are groomed daily and fully tacked up and prepared for their rider. The horses are bathed/showered and cleaned after each ride, dried and put away if required by the owner. Mane pulls, whisker/ear/bridle path trims, and lower leg clipping are also included as is blanketing, administering medication when necessary, supplemental feed service, (medication and extra feed are supplied at an extra charge for each item) laundry and grooming supplies. (Full body clipping is available at an extra charge).

Price for the Complete Training Program together with Grooming and Board is:

$1,800.00 for a Box Stall

$1,840.00 for a Mare Motel Stall

$1,870.00 for an In & Out Stall

Further information on Dressage training is available on request.
